Matt James, Consultant
Matt has a strong passion for sport and leisure and has worked in a number of different roles within the leisure industry since graduating with a Masters Degree in Sport and Leisure Management from Loughborough University in 2002. With 2 years' service at Continuum, Matt is an experienced consultant with excellent evaluation and consultation skills. He is a valued member of our team who will work to support all other members of the project team.
Prior to joining Continuum in 2004, Matt developed his consultation skills through the completion of an extensive piece of research analysing quantitative and qualitative data on the Community TOPs Football Programme in Birmingham . Following on from this Matt has experienced various sectors of the leisure industry, including facilities management and providing advisory services and support to community capital funding applications. Matt has first-hand experience of facility management, sports development and an understanding of the related operational and policy issues.
Matt currently leads the Continuum team on research, consultation, statistics, facility mapping, catchment and profiling analysis. He has been involved in a variety of projects which have resulted in him developing an excellent understanding of National Governing Bod ies, with particular emphasis on Olympic and Paralympic sports. Matt's most recent consultancy assignments have included:
• Research for a feasibility study examining the need to develop of a Virtual Athletics Academy to support long term athlete development, competition, club structures, talent identification and elite level coaching (on behalf of Sport England and the LDA)
• Preparation of a Scoping Study for South London to examine the strategic development, locational and facility needs of the National Governing Bod ies of all Olympic and Paralympic Sports.
• Quantitative and qualitative analysis for a range of feasibility studies, including consultation with the following National Governing Bod ies of sport: Rugby , Cricket, Rowing, Tennis and Football.
